West Park U13's V Preston Grasshoppers U13's
Match Played: 11th November 2018

Excellent performance from a depleted but totally committed West Park Team today-probably the best performance of the season everything considered and demonstrates the depth of ability now becoming evident within the squad. Very much a game of two halves with WP going 4-0 up in the first quarter with Daggers (3 tries) and George crossing following superb scrumming and rucking beforehand by the forwards.

Hollywood scored a brilliant full length try and looked like he needed oxygen at the end of it as he was chased down all the way by Preston. Preston responded shortly before half time making it 5-1. A shift of players by Preston in the second half saw some big powerful forwards coming into the frame and got them back to 5-4 before Daggers got his 4th try to make it 6-4.

Preston continued to grind forward applying great pressure and closing the scoreline to 6-5 with 10 minutes to go. The final period saw a WP defence of Rourke’s Drift proportions to close the game out 6-5 after 5 minutes of continuous pressure on our line. It was a pleasure to witness every single player putting their body on the line to keep them out.

Particular mention has to go to Boris (Alfie) and slamming Sam who played the entire game in the pack and were a constant menace throughout. The Scouse twins (Dru and Luke) disrupted the Preston forwards constantly and had, in my view, their best games this season. The other Harry twins (pickle and carrot) got really stuck in and chipped in with some big carries and tackles.

Finally, congratulations to Rocky Strett who defended admirably and managed to not get himself sin-binned for arguing with the Ref when the red mist was beginning to decend. This was a really excellent, disciplined performance and full credit to all of the lads getting this win and leaving us unbeaten in our league group this season.
