West Park 1st XV 19 pts V Wigan 1st XV 10 pts
and entertaining encounter between two old rivals.
Wigan opened the score after 20 minutes with an excellent try after some slick
handling by their backs, crossing wide out, the try not able to be converted
The home team drew level shortly afterwards with a try from centre Liam Hill
after a clever dummy hoodwinked the opposition, the attempted conversion
hitting the post.
Both sides competed well , but Park eased into the lead as half time approached, and
an incisive break by centre Danny Green saw the ball transferred at speed via Basley
and Williams to winger Josh Ainsworth crossing in the corner, the try neatly converted by Holland.
The match continued in the second half to be a fairly even contest, and the visitors got
within two points with an unconverted try resulting from a kick and chase to the line.
The home side however were now on in the ascendancy in most phases, and a brilliant
and mazy run of some 40 metres by scrum half Ryan Littler, leaving several defenders in his
wake, produced an excellent individual try to seal the match, Luke Holland converting.
Next week West Park have another arranged fixture at Leigh (kick off 2.30), before getting
back to league fixtures on 1st December at home to Oldham
