West Park Girls Under 15’s v Liverpool St Helens Girls Under 15’s

The green and golds travelled the short distance to our local rivals LSH to play a game that would decide the winners of the Lancashire area cup group. The Green and Gold’s absorbed a lot of pressure in the first 20 minutes of the first half but didn’t conceded a try. The girl’s gradually got on top and Meg’s line speed caused an error behind the LSH line which led to Meg scoring a try. Two more try’s followed and West Park held a handy 15 – nil lead at half-time.

LSH interchanges proved the catalyst for a comeback and with the last play of the game called the green and golds trailed 19 – 15. A quick penalty tap saw Kerrie throw a pass out to Molly who it the ball at pace and wasn’t going to be stopped putting the ball down behind the posts. Final Score: 19 -22. Both Teams now progress to quarter final games on 13th Jan as Lancashire’s representatives.

Going to LSH with only 15 girls and winning their hardest game of the season speaks volumes for the team spirit and belief the girls have. The real winner today was Girl’s rugby with two evenly matched teams producing a game of such quality and commitment. Once again the green and gold supporters club where in good voice and for once looked a little nervous towards the end of the game J.

I would like to thank LSH for their hospitality and good luck in the quarter finals.
