The green and golds arrived at a cold and dry Leigh Rugby union club for the 2nd Area 5 cup game. Again we had good numbers (16) which allowed us 1 sub.
After the usual chaotic warmup the girls caught site of the very imposing opposition team. After going behind early on against a very physical and well drilled Leigh team the girls turned it around with some impressive defence and attack resulting in a halftime lead of 22-19. The 2nd half saw West Park up their game which enabled us to win with a score of 51-29. Special mention must go today to our West Park pack of forwards who went toe to toe against some big Leigh girls and upped their performance to a level not seen so far this season. We are also very fortunate to have a back division that can score tries from any part of the pitch. From a coaching point of view the defence and attack today was a very pleasing aspect and all the girls seem to be improving week on week, but still room for improvement.
I would like to thank Leigh for their hospitality and congratulate their girls on never giving up which led to a very entertaining game.
I would like to thank the West Park parents for their very vocal support which is appreciated by the girls!
Next weeks game is a small matter against LSH at home. Hope to see as many players and parents there as possible.
