West Park (St Helens) RFC
Littleborough RUFC
The first weekend of the new year saw West Park second team host Littleborough in a game which consisted of two completely contrasting halves.

West Park opened strongly in the first half, and a spirited attacking game saw them rewarded with tries from Ben Houlton, Luke McMahon and a penalty try for a high tackle on Luke Holland. While Littleborough answered with a try and penalty of their own, the home side dominated and there was little doubt who had control of play at half time, the scoreboard showing a 25-10 lead for the green and gold.

The second half, however, told a very different story. Park quickly squandered their lead, their typically solid defence slow and lazy, allowing the determined visitors to pull ahead. A lack of fitness and discipline, which has been an Achilles heel for an otherwise talented team this year, proved to be Park's undoing.

The final score Littleborough 32, West Park 25, the green and gold start the new year on the wrong foot.
