West Park (St Helens) RFC
Tarleton RFC
There is not too much to report about West Park's performance this week as they were taught a tough lesson in attack and defence from a talented Tarleton side.

The game showed signs of what was to come early on as the Tarleton fullback made metre after metre whenever he got the ball. West Park's lack of one on one tackling, his pace and the supporting Tarleton attack pretty much sealing the game within the first half as they scored 4 tries and converted two of them.

West Park's only response came from top try scorer Tom Speight who barged over from close range after a series of quick rucks and good recycling from a tap and go penalty.
The second half was a repeat of the first with the only difference been that Tarleton scored five tries instead four.

Park were rewarded with a very fortunate consolation try as a loose ball was pounced on by someone in green and gold. Rob Morley was not quite sure who scored as he was quite fed up of the match by then. Perhaps it was the sight of his players being forced to lick their own bumholes by a Tarleton side who clearly showed more interest in all areas of rugby that day.

Very few positives too come from the day but congratulations to Chris Clayton on his debut for the Seconds; he showed some good attacking on the few occasions he managed to touch the ball. Some good individual efforts as well but not enough for a mention.

West Park must regroup next week away to Colne and Nelson: another tough opposition in what is proving to be a very hit and miss start to the 2nds season.
