Leigh RUFC
West Park (St Helens) RFC
West park 2nds forwards vs Leigh 2nds!

A great performance all round but Leigh were eventually too strong for a west park team that was basically made up of back rowers.
Park started well with a good try from scrum half Sean Allen after a nice kick was followed up by Adam Smith who put pressure on the defence to force a mistake which Allen pounced on. McMahon kicked the goal.
Leigh responded with two quick trys.

Good defence and PATIENCE from West Park led to a penalty which McMahon kicked. Another try from West Park's Adam Smith and a goal from McMahon put West Park back in control at 17-14 after 30 minutes.
Then came the injuries as Luke McMahon and Rob Callaghan (West Park's play makers) both went off with leg injuries in the next 5 minutes.

The latter dislocating his knee and as a result the game had to switch pitches. Leigh scored a quick try at the end of the first half to make it a tight game going into the second half.
Park spent much of the second half defending as Leigh took advantage in the backs. They scored another two tries before park responded with a push over try from Jay Hannon. A good conversion from Tom Speight.

Leigh scored once more to seal the game but West Park took solice in some great defensive efforts considering some creative attack from the Leigh backs.
Man of the match was Sam Thompson who made some strong carries and tough tackles throughout the whole game.
