West Park (St Helens) RFC
Aldwinians RUFC
Another tremendous attacking display by West Park, scoring 8 tries , was let down once again
by defensive frailties and a lack of aggressive tackling, allowing Aldwinians to cross for 7 tries themselves
converting 4 and adding a successful penalty to maintain an interest in the final result throughout the game.

The home side was forced into a number of changes to personnel both before and during the match,
seeing however the welcome return of Matt Savage at full back after a lengthy absence through injury,
and winger Warren Hunt whose contribution of a try a penalty kick and 5 conversions proved decisive in
the final analysis.

Park’s other tries came from centres Hill and Basley and winger Appleton, whilst forwards not to be outshone
saw Winstanley and Berry get on the score sheet, together with man of the match prop forward Tom Williams
whose 45 metre sprint to the line and outpacing the defence was particularly impressive.

West Park ‘s scoring record so far this season has been remarkable, but serious attention needs to be paid
to the team’s defensive qualities and overall game management if they are to continue to challenge for
top spots in this competitive league.

Next week Park travel to Littleborough, a new fixture the result of which will undoubtedly be hotly contested.
